Where can I take IELTS?
The network of IELTS test centres managed by IDP: IELTS Australia and British Council offers you several options to take the test based on your location.
How much does it cost?
As of June 2020, the current IELTS fees is Nrs. 21,500.
Do I take all parts of the test on the same day?
The Listening, Reading and Writing components of the test are always completed immediately after each other and with no break on the same day. The Speaking test is scheduled up to 7 days either before or after the test date, depending on the test centre.
What can I take into the examination room?
Only pens, pencils and erasers. You must bring the passport you used on the IELTS Application Form to take the test.
What kinds of accents can be heard in the Listening and Speaking tests?
As IELTS is an international test, a variety of English accents is used in both of these tests.
Can I write in capital letters?
Yes, you can use all capital letters in the IELTS Reading and Listening components and also in the Writing component.
How are the tests marked?
IELTS uses a 9-band scoring system to report test scores in a consistent manner. You receive individual band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from one to nine. The overall score is the average of the 4 band scores.
When will I receive my test results?
Your Test Report Form will be available to you 13 calendar days after your test date.
How soon can I re-sit the test?
There is no time limit on sitting the test. However, it is strongly recommended to be well prepared before taking the test again.
How can we get the venue details for the IELTS Examination?
The venue details are provided by British Council or IDP based on your registration 7 days prior to the examination.
What is the difference between Academic and General Exams for IELTS & PTE?
The Academic exams are for the candidates who want to go abroad for study purpose to a particular country whereas General are for those who want to go for immigration or work to a particular country.
Are there any fixed dates for the IELTS Tests?
There are 48 fixed IELTS test days in a year and up to 4 times a month.
If due to some problem if I want to postpone or cancel appearing the test, what should I do? Will I get back the fee?
Postponement of test is not entertained at all. But if you are able to provide strong reason with supporting evidence within 5 days (of the test date) the authority might refund you a partial amount of the fee submitted.
What is the validity of my IELTS score card?
In general, the validity of the IELTS certificate is 2 years from the test date. If your IELTS Test Report Form, (known as TRF) gets older than 2 years, you should consider sitting for the test again to get a fresh TRF form.
How much time does the ‘IELTS’ Test takes to complete?
The different sections take different times to complete. 1) The Listening Test lasts for – 30 Minutes. 2) The Speaking Test lasts for – 11 to 14 Minutes. 3) The Reading Test lasts for – 60 Minutes. 4) The Writing Test lasts for – 60 Minutes. So in total, the IELTS Test takes 2 hours and 44 minutes (Approx.) to complete.
What is the difference between the ‘Academic’ and the ‘General Training’ tests?
The timing and scoring scale is same for the Academic and General IELTS. The difference lies in the modules. The question patterns of the ‘Listening Test’ and the ‘Speaking Test’ are the same, but they are different from each other in case of ‘Reading Tests’ and the ‘Writing Tests’.
Which spelling is accepted as correct, the American spelling or the British spelling?
Both are accepted as right, but you should remember he should stick to either one of the two and not use a mixture of ‘American Spelling’ and ‘British Spelling’.
