How long is the Canada Student Visa valid?

A Canadian Student Visa is typically valid for 3 years or 4 years depending upon the span of your course, with an additional 3-month extension.

International students might use the extra ninety days to get ready to return home or to petition for an extension of their Canada student visa for academic purposes. For example, you will need to extend your student visa if you don’t finish the course within the allotted period.

On the other hand, you should submit documentation from your particular institution, such as a letter, an email, or a duplicate of your certificate, if you have finished your program on time but need more time to get ready to leave Canada. The CIC will use the date on the certificate as the completion date in order to prolong your 90-day timeframe.

International students are finding it difficult to obtain the necessary paperwork in order to apply for a study permit in Canada as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Therefore, in order to assist overseas students in starting their online courses without the need for a study permit, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented a new two-step visa clearance procedure. Applying for a temporary student visa is something you should do as soon as possible if you want to start a program this autumn, preferably before September 15.

A New Three-Year PGWP Regulation for Foreign Students
